Anas Aremeyaw Anas nearly lost his life during an investigation in Malawi into the ritual killing of people, including children.
Anas was nearly lynched by a mob as he was meeting one of the ritual killers and some passing townspeople mistook them all for ritual killers.
It led to a very scary experience for Anas and his crew who thought they were dead but managed to escape by the skin of their teeth.
The investigation was a partnership with BBC’s ‘Africa Eye’ in which they looked into ritual killings in Malawi.
Many people were being murdered and body parts cut off for rituals in the southern African country.
Anas, as per his modus operandi, posed as a businessman who needed charms to make his business thrive and met one ritualist who told him everything he needed to know.
The man even recommended an associate to Anas whould would carry out the killing then he said he would use the parts cut off, particularly the head and genitals, for his rituals to help Anas’ business.
It was during a very late night meeting to get more details from the ritualist and the killer when they were nearly lynched and Anas was forced to abandon his investigation.
