‘Dancehall king’ Shatta Wale has told the story of how he suffered during the decade between his explosion onto the scene as Bandana and his comeback as Shatta Wale.
Everyone knows Shatta had a terrible decade in his career after he became famous as Bandana but then couldn’t get any hit songs to his name.
He went underground for over ten years before coming back as Shatta Wale and getting the fame he currently has.
Shatta Wale has been speaking out about those ten years and said the suffering he endured during that time was on another level.
According to him he was famous as Bandana but he was as broke as anyone else in Ghana.
“Hunger was the order of the day then, it took ten years for me to bounce back. You being an artiste that everyone knew about you will be sleeping in a room with frogs, cockroaches and mice and people were seeing me like a star,” he said.
“Where we were staying wasn’t a place for an artiste to stay, I wouldn’t say it was bad though,” he added.
Shatta Wale said that was the kind of hardship he went through before eventually he exploded as Shatta Wale and is now enjoying a little.
