Communications director of the Ghana Football Assocaition (GFA), Ibrahim Saanie Daara, has sued Anas Aremeyaw Anas for defamation over the allegation he took a bribe in Anas’ documentary ‘Number 12’.
According to the veteran sports journalist, he did not take a bribe in the video and it was edited with a voice over to claim he did so.
In ‘Number 12′, Saanie Daara is clearly approached by a member of Anas’ team and asked to take some money to influence selection into one of the national teams. He did not take the money but indicated it should be given to another gentleman standing with him.
Anas claims that person was with Saanie and he authorized him to take the bribe for him but he denies that interpretation.

His lawyer says Anas intentionally added a voiceover alleging Ibrahim directed the other gentleman to take the bribe for him when he did no such thing.

According to the lawyer, Dominic Ayine, the voice over is defamatory and a malicious attempt to smear Ibrahim Daara.
They have thus slapped Anas with a defamation suit in which they seek Ghc 20m in compensatory damages.
