Emmanuel Kwesi Danso Arthur Junior, popularly known as Kwesi Arthur is obviously not your regular bougie rapper, talking about how he is so flashy in real life and all that braggadocious crap. Being nominated for the BETs has not altered the rising star’s humility in the least and he continues to stay true to himself and do what he does best. After making his first international appearance at the BETs, the chest-baring Hip-hop rapper is back home and thankful to Ghanaians for all the support and love showed him.
Speaking with Sammie Flex on Zylofon Fm’s Showbiz Agenda on Thursday, July 5, the Tema rapper said he was utterly overwhelmed by the massive support he received from Ghanaians. He was particularly grateful to people like Sarkodie, D-Black, Joselyn Dumas and all the celebrities who used their social media handles to support him and said he hopes the story of his journey will be enough motivation for all those who “come from nothing” or from the “ground up”.
On what genre of music he prefers to be associated with, the “Grind Day” star said he would rather not be boxed into a particular category, though people associate him with Hip-hop. “I’m an artist. I make music but people know me and associate me with Hip-hop music”, he said. ” If that’s how they want to see me, fine. But don’t think that is what I’ll do”.
The host Sammie Flex asked about why he decided to go on stage at the VGMAs with gari soakings. He explained that people seemed to like the idea of him eating soakings in his “Anthem” video and lots of people made videos of themselves eating gari soakings while jamming to the song so he thought it was only right to bring gari to one of the most prestigious music events of the year. As to whether he actually eats gari in real life, he revealed that he actually eats it at least two times every week.
