The crisis hitting Ghana football at the moment could be averted without any lasting damage to the currently running leagues and our national teams who have qualified to tournaments to be held later this year.
The dissolution of the FA by government was thought to surely attract a Fifa ban for Ghana but talks between the two parties seemed to have ended on a positive note and could lead to Ghana escaping a ban.
A delegation from Fifa met one from Ghana in Accra Friday to discuss the current deadlock in Ghana football following the revelations of Anas’ ‘Number 12’ exposé.
Since the corruption scandal broke, Government has been attempting measures to dissolve the FA but have found themselves embroiled in a legal battle.
If Fifa backs the efforts, it could go more smoothly, and the world governing body seem onboard with cleaning the FA in a statement released after the meeting.
“Both FIFA and the Ghanaian government have a zero tolerance for corruption, criminality and all other forms of illegality,” it read, in part.
The talks are expected to continue later in Zurich, Switzerland.
