Most days of the week Ghanaians are at church, praying their guts out to God to better their lot in life.
Most at times before leaving the church they have to make a small offertory, offertory which keeps enriching the pastor and makes those looking for a better lot in life poor and coming back for more prayers.
It’s simple arithmetic — all those poor people giving their coins to the pastor keeps him rich, and by taking a lot out of the small they have to the pastor they continue to struggle and come back for more prayers, at which point they donate more money!
A vicious cycle, and there’s nothing you can say which would make them change their minds.
How else can a charlatan like Obinim, who spends his days lying to his church members with cheap parlour tricks, not only be able to afford the at least two Range Rovers he already has but now is adding a Rolls Royce to his fleet?
The Rolls Royce, part of the Ghost Series 2, arrived at his mansion in Tema Wednesday from wherever he shipped it from. The car apparently costs Ghc 1.4m.
Obinim’s church members come to him for prosperity, and many of them give out what little they have to help the church keep running. Yet their preacher can afford a mansion and numerous luxury cars. When does their own prosperity arrive?
