It’s one of the funniest aspects of Christianity and shows the extent to which ‘crazy’ behaviour can be normalized by social acceptance.
In churches all across the country Christians speak in ‘tongues’, mostly gibberish which everyone makes up for himself but so long as you’re in church it’s seen as the sign of the holy spirit.
Mzbel, who has made it clear she’s not a Christian and often clashes with Ghana’s super emotional Christians because she’s always making pronouncements they do not like, has come for them once again.
According to the singer, who was recently in an accident, speaking tongues – the version where it’s just gibberish which no one understands – is silly and childish.
According to Mzbel, in the Bible when the apostles spoke in tongues they actually spoke in other languages which the assembled multitudes understood.
Therefore speaking in tongues actually means speaking other languages, not speaking nonsense your brain made up for you.
“People would say that on the day of Pentecost, the disciples spoke in new languages, but when you read further…they only spoke languages either than their mother tongues.” she asserted.
“Tongues itself is play. It is very silly… when you go to church and speak in tongues, it is senseless”.
