After parting ways with Arsene Wenger, who has been with the club for the past 22 years, Arsenal have moved quickly to name his replacement.
In a not so shocking move, Spanish coach Unai Emery has been named to the role, after days of speculation leading up to his appointment.
Emery’s move was made official Wednesday with a statement from the club.
The 46 year old last coached PSG, who he led to one French title and numerous other domestic cups during his tenure. But he truly made his name at Sevilla, who he led to three straight Europa League victories before moving to France.
Said Emery after his appointment: “I’m very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal’s history.
“I am thrilled to be joining one of the great clubs in the game. Arsenal is known and loved throughout the world for its style of play, its commitment to young players, the fantastic stadium, the way the club is run.
“I’m excited about what we can do together and I look forward to giving everyone who loves Arsenal some special moments and memories.” he added.
