GHAMRO President Rex Omar has expressed surprise that Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ failed to win an award at the just ended VGMA’s, but also explained to Ghanaians why a situation like that could happen.
According to Rex Omar, the VGMA, because it’s based on voting, does not reward technical proficiency but simply those who can mobilize people to vote for them.
Omar said therefore a rubbish song can win many awards and a great song would be neglected so long as the voting is the method of determination.
Patapaa’s uber popular ‘One Corner’ was surprisingly unable to win Most Popular Song of the year at the recent awards, a decision Ghanaians are still grappling with.
