Film critic, Lawyer, Founding Editor of Ghanacelebrities.com and a member of the 2018 Golden Movie Awards Jury, Chris-Vincent Agyapong has stated without mincing words that Ghallywood movies that were submitted for review were as worst as Kumawood during the Jury’s press interaction.
Chris-Vincent also observed that Ghanaian movie makers overused drones in most of the movies that were submitted to be reviewed by the Jury.
Chris-Vincent known to be brutally honest stated clearly that most of the drone shots in the movies submitted did not make sense and could not understand why professional movie makers added those scenes in their movies.
He said:
“The movies that did not make it to this year’s awards is not just Kumawood, the so-called Ghallywood were as worst as Kumawood. We have seen several drone shots which are not relevant to the scene we are watching.

People will be in their rooms and you will see drones flying showing us buildings at Trassaco. We don’t buy movies to watch beautiful places else we would have gone to Dubai. We need to have some relevance to the scenes.
If you are moving from one scene to the other, let it connect but don’t take a drone shot of the Circle Interchange and show it to us. For what? It does not add any value to the show and this is something that almost every Ghanaian moviemaker is doing. It is as though somebody shoots the drone shots and they buy it from him”.
The Golden Movie Awards which is aimed at honouring and celebrating excellence in the African movie industry has been scheduled for Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Movenpick Hotel, Accra.
