"Lack of Vocabs" Caused Moesha To Flop In The Amanpour Interview – Afia Schwarzenegger

It will be a while before this Moesha matter is put to rest, as everyone seems to have an opinion on the interview she had with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. Except you’ve been hibernating in some cave for the past few weeks, you’ve most probably heard about how Moesha Boduong went and blamed Ghana’s economy for her choosing the “sugar baby” or “ashawobrity” lifestyle. In a snippet of the documentary “Sex and Love Around The World” where Moesha was Amanpour’s guest, she is heard admitting in the interview that she sleeps with a married man who in turn pays her rent and provides her needs.
Ghanaians would probably not have descended so heavily on her but for the fact that she went ahead to claim it was common practice for women in Ghana to have sex with married men as a means of livelihood due to the poor state of the economy. Many people have offered their opinion on her generalization, with most disputing the fact and hailing Ghanaian females as very enterprising and independent. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry from Leila Djansi to the Ministry of Gender to an extremely unqualified KKD has had their say on the matter.
You’d think someone like Afia Schwarzenegger who was recently caught by her then-husband cheating on him on their matrimonial bed with a guy disguised as a blanket would avoid this topic as much as possible, but she too has been offering her two cents as if her opinion in this matter is relevant. Jumping to her defense in an interview, Afia said she was sure it wasn’t Moesha’s intention to make such a generalization but that the infamous slay queen just doesn’t have enough words to be able to effectively express her thoughts and that’s why she said what she said the best way she knew how.
“Moesha didn’t want to insult all Ghanaians but her lack of command over the English language betrayed her. I’ve watched the video severally and I can say it’s a pity and it’s pathetic”, she said. She also applauded independent and hardworking Ghanaian women like herself who didn’t need to depend on men for survival but work hard to cater for themselves.
