Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie, has been relieved of his duties at the organization.
Afriyie was sacked following a meeting of the Executive Committee of the GFA, who decided to push him out of his role.
Afriyie, a vastly experienced football administrator, made waves a few weeks ago when he announced he plans to run for President of the FA in 2019, when Kwesi Nyantakyi’s term expires.
The long serving Nyantakyi has promised not to seek reelection but still Afriyie’s announcement did not go down well at the FA and since those comments his days have been numbered.
Afriyie was named to the position in 2015 by Nyantakyi and his term was also expected to end in 2019. He was a former chairman of the Black Stars management committee.
