According to a new bill signed into law to govern social media and blogging, Tanzanian bloggers will pay over $900 to the government in a year.
The Electronic and Postal Communications (Online Content) Regulations 2017 takes effect in March 2018.
According to the regulation, bloggers, online radio stations and video content websites will be required to pay a license fee as well as registration fees for anyone who wants to start a blog or online media.

Despite the uproar and objections from stakeholders, Dr Harrison Mwakyembe, Tanzania’s Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports did not give a hoot but rather went on to sign the regulations into law.
In conclusion, to run a simple or personal blog in Tanzania, you will be required to pay a license fee, registration fee and annual fees amounting to $900.
