Sometimes you really wonder how some people manage to earn the title “Professor”. Some so-called professors profess certain things that even a pig won’t excrete from their backside. In every profession there is the bad nut that will bring shame and disgrace to the entire bunch of otherwise dignified professionals, and a certain Indian professor is the baboon amongst this set of monkeys. Dr. Rajith Kumar, a botany professor at Kalady’s Sree Sankara College in India has offered his opinion on how he believes transgender and autistic children come about, and one can’t help but wonder what drugs he is under the influence of.
According to Dr. Rajith Kumar, women who wear jeans trousers are the ones who eventually give birth to ‘transgenders’ and autistic children. On a live television show recently, the professor boldly stated that “…A woman who dresses up like a man, what will be the character of the child she gives birth to? These children are called “transgenders” or “napumsakam.” Hijra.” ‘Napamsakum’ is the South-Asian word for intersex and ‘hijra’ is the term for transgender people.
This is not the first time this particular professor has made such ridiculous remarks. He once stated that ‘good’ children are only born to men who dress and act like men, and women who dress and act like women. Claiming his views are based on ‘science and experience’, Dr. Rajith Kumar insisted that ‘When a woman degrades her womanhood and a man degrades his manhood, the girl born to them is man-like. The child this girl later gives birth to will be a transgender.”
In reaction to these ill-informed remarks, the State Minister for Health and Social Welfare, K. K. Shylaja banned him from participating in programmes organized by the government. “Rajith Kumar has been consistently propagating superstitious and sexist ideas. We are mulling legal action against him for making such derogatory comments,” the minister announced.
Professors in India are unpopular for their sexist and homophobic views. Last year, a Mumbai college principal declared that women who dress like men develop reproductive disorders. ‘’I have heard theories on why girls suffer from PCOD (Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease) at an early age,’ the principal said. ‘When they dress like men, they start thinking or behaving like them. There is a gender role reversal in their head. Due to this, the natural urge to reproduce diminishes right from a young age and therefore they suffer from problems like PCODs”.
Meanwhile, scientists have denounced his opinion as completely false. ‘Girls do not suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) because of clothes. It is caused by hormonal imbalance,’ said Anjali Chhabria, a psychiatrist.
