There's No Popular Artiste In Ghana Except Sarkodie And Stonebwoy — Shatta Wale's Master Yaa Pono

Controversial rapper, the man with a female name, Yaa Pono otherwise known as PonoBiom has said regardless of how popular an artist is seen in Ghana, he or she is still an underground musician until the Black Entertainment Television (BET) in U.S.A has awarded him or her.
The Tema based rapper PonoBiom speaking in an interview on Adom TV’s Badwan show with Sister Sandy said that the only thing an artist can boast of is to be Awarded by BET. You can’t just stay in Ghana, a country of just 30 million in population and claim to be a King.

He, however, said among all the artiste in Ghana only Sarkodie and Stonebwoy can boast of their popularity because they have been able to make it to the BET level and has been awarded. He, therefore, concluded that the rest of the artiste in Ghana including himself are all underground musicians.

“Apart from someone who has won a BET, I see you as an underground artiste. That is the only thing to determine your international recognition.” he said,
