Uber Puts Self Driving Program On Hold After One Of Their Cars Killed A Pedestrian

Uber has put testing of their self driving program on hold after a pedestrian was killed by one of their driverless cars.
The incident occurred Sunday in Tempe, Arizona and it involved their car and a pedestrian on a bicycle.
The pedestrian, a female, was struck by the Uber car and was rushed to hospital but unfortunately failed to survive the crash.
The Uber car involved was being tested in self drive mode and had a human operator behind the wheel, although he did not take over driving during the incident.
Tempe Police and the National Transportation and Safety Board are both investigating the incident and Uber has promised their fullest cooperation.

“Our hearts go out to the victim’s family. We’re fully cooperating with @TempePolice and local authorities as they investigate this incident.” the company tweeted Monday.
