The funeral of Statesman, K.B Asante was graced by his fellow members of the Grand Masonry Lodge (Freemasons) to honour him for the last time as he continues his journey to the next world.
The majority of Ghanaians doubt the existence of Freemasons in Ghana even though former President John Agyekum Kufour and a couple of prominent and influential men in Ghana are known to be staunch members of the secret society.
Most of these prominent Ghanaians who are members of the Grand Masonry Lodge attended the funeral of their late member, K.B Asante who died in January 2018 and this time around, they were captured on camera without restrictions.

The likes of Professor V.R.A.C. Crabbe and Aggrey-Orleans were all present to pay their last respect to the 70-year old diplomat and Master Mason.
As usual, they were all dressed up in their Masonry outfit and filed past the coffin of their member to perform the Masonic funeral rites as it is done to every member who dies.
The Masonic funeral rite is performed by a Master Mason to every Master Mason who dies in the Lodge–it is performed at the request of a Master Mason before his demise.

The ritual is usually performed at the church, home or Lodge room with committal service at the graveside of the departed member.
It is on record that the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II and former President Kufour are leaders of the Grand Masonry Lodge in Ghana.
Otumfour Osei Tutu II is on record to have said:
“I am a proud Freemason and I confirm that the principles and tenets of Freemasonry that we are taught in the Lodge, especially in the areas of governance and accountability have always stood me in good stead in my daily functions as Asantehene”.
