Ghanaian have not officially been in ‘dumsor’ since 2016 but prolonged pockets of lights out occur at anytime anyway.
However, according to Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, Ghanaians can say goodbye to dumsor officially because it would never happen again under the NPP’s watch.
Speaking on the topic, Agyarko said the problem has never been about capacity but about money to fuel plants.
He said Ghana has always had the capacity and the only reason the NDC failed was because they mismanaged funds to be used for energy purposes.
“I have always said that dumsor was not a technical problem…..It was as a result of financial mismanagement.” he said.
“For example if you have a car and you park that car because you don’t have money to fuel it…When someone dashes you money or gives you a loan and you go and buy a brand new car what are you implying? You have to use the money to buy fuel but if you go and buy a car it means you don’t know the problem.
“Dumsor will not surface again. We have resolved it,” he added.
