The Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Dr Kwame Akuffo Anoff-Ntow, has been ordered to proceed on indefinite leave.
Dr Anoff-Ntow infamously wrote to the Chief Justice asking for special courts to be set up to prosecute Ghanaians who fail to pay their tv licence fees, a request which was granted and the courts set up.
However, following incessant public backlash, the board of the corporation stepped in and scrapped the plans.

On Monday night, a letter was reportedly sent to Dr Ntow asking him to proceed on indefinite leave. His handling of the saga was cited as the reason, as did his inability to seek the approval of the board before writing to the Chief Justice.
