A survey conducted by the political science department of the University of Ghana has found that the Nana Akufo-Addo administration holds an impressive 62% approval rating among Ghanaians after its first year of governance.
The survey also found that 52% of Ghanaians would vote for the government once again if elections had been held in December 2017.
The Akufo-Addo government has been plagued with many challenges and scandals even in its short time in office, but it also has some tangible achievements to point to, most notably the implementation of the Free SHS program.
Despite the criticisms it constantly faces, it seems most Ghanaians would make the same choice if elections were held once again, as 52.7% of respondents chose Akufo-Addo as their choice for President.
A measly 33.1% of respondents said they would vote for the NDC if elections were held last month.
The comprehensive survey by Legon’s political science department was carried out on 5,000 respondents nationwide, with 62% of Ghanaians saying they approve of the job carried out by government so far.
