‘Dancehall king’ Shatta Wale has candidly revealed he felt inadequate in the face of the massive success chalked by ‘One Corner’ hitmaker Patapaa in 2017.
According to Shatta Wale, Patapaa ‘nearly killed my career’ and he was forced to the studio to record some songs to try and also keep up with him.
The hitherto unknown Swedu based artist hit the limelight last year after his song ‘One Corner’ took over the airwaves with its accompanying crazy dance. For a few months everywhere you turned you would hear Patapaa, with his song even managing to go international.
Speaking with Jerry Justice on Adom Fm, Shatta claimed the song and Patapaa’s subsequent popularity worried him a lot and even forced him to record a song so he could also ‘reign’.
“Let me confess today. Patapaa worried me a lot so he made me record the ‘Freedom’ song. I wanted to give the song to him but I changed my plan later. I’m saying this and God knows that I am not lying. That is how smart I am.
“Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ got me asking why God didn’t bring the hit song to Accra but took it to Swedru. Tell Patapaa I love him so much but he nearly killed my career”
