The influx of foreign contents in the country has become a headache for the industry insiders because of its patronage by Ghanaians, apparently, the majority of Ghanaians prefer foreign contents to the local contents.
The recently held Aiteo CAF awards in Ghana which has generated a lot of reactions by Ghanaians on social media as to why Ghanaian musicians who were billed to perform were sidelined by organizers.
Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Samini has taken to his twitter handle a day after the event to question organizers why Ghanaian musicians were less represented at the event.
Samini is of the view that there should be a law that allows 70% of local content, 50% of Ghanaian musician representation at international events hosted in Ghana should be passed.

“I am starting a campaign today and I hope it gets to the LAW makers .Ghanaians want 70 percent of local content on our airwaves and 50:50 share of performance time on any international platform mounted here on our soil.This is to help us also sell to the world “ourown”craft,” Samini tweeted.
Samini called out Bice Osei Kuffour, President of Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) to champion the course of petitioning parliament over foreign content.
“MUSIGA president pls take this to parliament for us oooo. We need change NOW chale … aaah. HOW,” he added.

In response to a follower who claimed Ghanaian musicians weren’t given more slots at the awards ceremony because they weren’t ambassadors of the headline sponsor Aiteo said;
“I performed in 2006 or so at Glo caff awards .. I wasn’t an ambassador then .. you point is ?? Lol. I’ve actually performed in Nigeria several times as the only Gh act on the bill.. how can this happen any where in the world lol,”.
A lot of Ghanaians including legal practitioner, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko have all talked against Ghanaian musicians be sidelined at the ceremony, Gabby took to his Facebook page and posted;

“Instead of treating us to some good Ghanaian performances, as well, CAF decided to populate the stage with Naija ones plus others, including a Nigerian artiste who was dressed as if he lost his way to the gym. I hear he is called Wizkid”.
