Black Stars defender Samuel Inkoom has joined a new club in Sudan.
It sounds embarrassing that a team from war torn Sudan can have more attractive packages to offer even our foreign based players than the local league, but that’s simply the sad state of affairs in Ghana football.
Inkoom is coming back off a one year Fifa ban. He has signed a short term deal with the Sudanese club Al Merreikh as he tries to get his career back on track.
Inkoom, a veteran Black Stars player, has been capped 46 times for the senior national team, although he has not represented Ghana since 2015. He was a member of the historic U-20 world cup winning squad in 2009, captained by Dede Ayew.
He has played for Basel, Dnipro and DC United in Major League soccer in his career, among others.
Inkoom made his name in the Ghana Premier League as a marauding fullback for Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
