Police in the Ashanti region have issued a public service announcement to ladies about how to stay safe this festive season.
Apparently a gang of criminals are using taxi rides to prey on ladies and rob them, sometimes even killing them.
ASP Juliana Obeng, PRO of the Regional Police Command, has thus advised ladies to only pick taxis from designated stations and not by the roadside.
According to her, the modus operandi of the robbers is to pick ladies by the roadside and then take them to their own location and rob them.
She said some of them had been arrested but many others are still in operation.
Speaking at a press briefing in Kumasi, she also said ladies who attend functions can join a taxi together to get to their destination to reduce the risk of being robbed.
