Legendary Ghanaian reggae star Rocky Dawuni says he does not judge the choices of people and thus cannot condemn gay people like so many other Ghanaians are fond of doing.
Dawuni, in an interview on Joy News with MzGee, said that he sees his role in the world as being to unite people and not tear them apart, and condemning some people would go contrary to that role.
MzGee asked the Grammy award nominee for his thoughts on the issue of gay rights which has been trending in Ghana for a while now.
“The thing is that I don’t like to impose my ideas on issues like this because, from my travels, my position has always been that I am not a judge of people. I am a child of God; I unite people that is my role,” he said.
“Everybody in the world has whatever they feel is their responsibility to themselves and to God…Our president [Akufo-Addo] can best answer that question,” Rocky Dawuni added.
The singer added that Ghanaians as a people have to come together and bring out our unified position on the issue.
“I think, the thing is that we just have to nationally consider it and make our response to it. It is a matter of Africa so Africans have to look at what it is and make our pronunciation”. he opined.
