I Do Not Deserve The 'Artiste Of The Year Award' — Kidi

Published by

The battle for this year’s artiste of the year still hangs on the neck of no artiste until it is been won by the deserving artiste. Ghanaian artistes are currently campaigning indirectly for that prestigious accolade but it will all depend on the hard work and votes from cherished fans.
Now Kidi, originally known as Dennis Nana Dwamena, has indicated that even though he has worked very hard under the year review and looks forward to more successes but he is not eyeing the ‘Artiste of the Year’ accolade for now.

As the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards approaches, a lot of artistes have openly declared themselves as winners even though they’ve not been nominated yet. Examples are the Tamale-based musician, Fancy Gadam and female dancehall star Ebony.
Kidi, the ‘Odo’ hitmaker, who has also been tipped by Ghanaians to win the Artiste of the Year has told Naa Ashorkor in an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z that, “This year I’ve put in work but honestly I don’t think I’m ready for ‘Artiste of the Year’…I’m still working.”
Even though he believes he is not ready for the award but when asked should he be given, Kidi said, “it will be a blessing that God has given me but deep down, sometimes you get some blessings…God has to prepare you for the blessing if you are not ready and the blessing comes you will not know how to handle it.”
But his colleague, Kuami Eugene, on the same show, indicated his willingness to grab the ultimate award should he be nominated, he said, “If I’m being nominated as ‘Artiste of the Year’, I think I’ve worked as much as possible to deserve that position and if it’s being given to me, I will just give glory to God. I think I’ve been working and every worker deserves his salary.”
