Dancehall songstess Ebony has had all the bad press in the world within the past few weeks but she remains confident that she would be adjudged the artist of the year at next year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Ebony, in an interview with Doreen Avio, said she believes she deserves to win the award for the explosive year she has had so far.
“I feel like I deserve it,” she said.
When asked if she expects to win the award, Ebony replied.
“First of all, I shall win. Amen. Second of all, I am hopeful. May the best win. We’ve worked really hard this year. If I win, it is out of merit.” she said.
There is no doubt Ebony has had a great year in terms of music, with massive hits like ‘Sponsor’ and ‘Date Ur Fada’ dominating the airwaves. The issue with her, like with Shatta, is that their antics often bring a lot of bad press and makes it a bad idea to associate with them.
Ebony’s comments come after Tamale star Fancy Gadam also made it clear that he expects to win the artist of the year at next year’s VGMAs.
