The New Patriotic Party–NPP is in power and as usual, the show off wealth and opulence lifestyle cannot be taken away from them. Already they have been accused of overspending, corruption and sponsoring of vigilante groups to cause violence in the country by the opposition, NDC.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi has opulently unearthed the ‘jaw-breaking price’ of his gold necklace and Rolex gold watch.
For some Ghanaians, this doesn’t come as a surprise knowing the numerous houses and businesses he has in his name. It is believed that he has 100 houses in the Ashanti Region of which he built them purposely for renting.
“The chain is called Wontumi. The Rolex watch is diamond and gold fused together. I bought it 120,000 dollars. The chain is $200,000…” he said to host KSM on his show.
Chairman Wontumi is a businessman and widely known as a mogul in the mining industry. The radical politician, however, debunked the allegations that illegal mining (galamsey) is his main source of his wealth.
“It is not galamsey. I have worked in the mining sector before. I had a large scale mining organization. I am not into galamsey. I work hard as a businessman. I am not into galamsey…” he stressed.
Summing up his gold necklace and Rolex diamond watch, it cost a total of $320,000 and a little above Ghc1,440,000 which can build and remove about 200 schools under trees in the Ashanti Region.
