According to veteran Lawyer, Samuel Okudzeto, who is also a staunch Christian and often a Preacher, he doesn’t pay tithe to anyone for his good reasons.
The 82-year-old man said paying such dues to churches and Pastors is a thing of the Old Testament concept which is being used to extort people as such offerings even do not end up serving its purpose in today’s world.
However, he reiterated that love and giving is the core of Christianity and he accordingly gives to people who are in need.
Speaking on Metro Tv in a conversation with Paul Adom-Otchere, he said: “I help those who I think are in situation where they need help and I have to them … I don’t pay tithe … because that’s Old Testament concept“.

The founding member of the NPP continued that people shouldn’t be fooled to compulsorily pay 1/10 of their income to Churches in order to be blessed by God. “God blesses you because you worship Him, He blesses you because you love your neighbour as yourself and provide for your neighbour when he is in need. That’s what God wants you to do” he said.

Elaborating on why the bible has been turned upside down on this issue, he emphasized that it’s foolery to even pay tithe whilst one doesn’t willingly help his/her neighbour.
“When you are telling somebody to give a tithe when the person is wicked, he is turning against his neighbour who has need and he brings money into your this thing then you are saying “I bless you” I say you are fooling yourself, you are fooling the person, tell him to go and love his neighbor”
