A musical hiatus for any successful artist can do a couple of things – it can build up immense anticipation for their return or simply evaporate any ounce of interest the public once had in them.
But whichever way the public turns during the hiatus, the comeback record has to be a massive one, as otherwise the fanbase is not fired up and the return becomes a bust.
Ghanaian singer Eboo, born Andy Kwabena Adisi, has been absent from the music scene for seven good years, a hiatus he took to make personal and professional advances in his private life.
Ready now to make comeback, Eboo, like many artists who take a hitatus, faces the same challenges outlined above, particularly for a break as lengthy as he took.
Eboo performed at the book launch of his elder brother Bola Ray and recently at the RTP Awards as he warmed up his return. In that vein, one of his new records, ‘Bad Girl’, has become a certifiable banger whose official music video has now been released.
‘Bad Girl’ is from his upcoming album ‘Good Life’, his bid to stake a claim back to where he belongs in the echelon of Ghanaian music acts. It promises to be a groundbreaking album and ‘Bad Girl’ since its release has proven exactly that.

And its accompanying video, shot under the Empire Records label and directed by Director OJ, is a work of art that ticks all the right boxes and is a sight for sore eyes. A song titled ‘Bad Girl’ would inexorably drag you in to check it out but once you start watching the video, it possesses a mesmerising quality which you cannot walk away from.
Director OJ pulls off a masterstroke of directing the video, which was shot in the streets and the beautiful coastal lines of Accra. The visuals are easy on the eye, but the real star is Eboo and his story of the ‘Bad Girl’.
Featuring a trove of video vixens in a dance-off, they ‘audition’ to show off how much of ‘bad girls’ they are and boy, do they pass the test!.
The dance setup, the choreography and all related technical set up is flawless. You come for the title and we assure you will stay for the dance.

Eboo tells a simple story in a simple format, but with outstanding visual quality and eye-catching clarity. It doesn’t hurt that ‘eye candy’ is littered throughout the video making it cinematically appealing, especially to the demographic who would find a song titled ‘Bad Girl’ immensely appealing.
A club banger, the music video does it immense justice.
One other underrated part of ‘Bad Girl’ which would escape most eyes but deserves equal commendation is the instrumentals, which are superb and which add another layer of intrigue to the video.
It’s definitely worth it, after watching the video, to rewatch the whole thing and simply soak in the beat and see what we’re talking about. Kudos to Legacy Beats.
Eboo has a singular aim with this comeback, to re-establish himself back in the industry and ‘Bad Girl’ is a great start. Signed to Empire Records, it’s only a matter of time.
