Rap Is Now Less About Message And More About Hype And Vulgarity — Obrafour

Ghanaian hiplife legend Obrafour has some strong words of rebuke for the new generation of Ghanaian rappers.
Obrafour has expressed worry that giving out a message through rap has now taken a back seat to simply getting a good beat and talking about profanity.
According to Obrafour, the genre has lost its substance due to the new direction its going in and he’s fighting hard to bring it back on track.
“When rappers fail to recognize the importance of message and it’s all beat driven, that’s what you get.” he said.
“It’s not about talent anymore, it’s about hype…profanity and vulgar…plus the sub – culture of insults that has crept into our music is our bane.
“Obrafour remains the same though….but there’s this positive energy flowing through me. There’s the hunger to reposition myself for the greater works my maker is about to do.”
