The President of the Ghanaian Humanist Association, Michael Assibey, has described God as a vanishing packet of ignorance.
Assibey was interviewed on StarrFm earlier today and said that there exists no evidence for the existence of God and that the moment that evidence appears, he would believe it.
“It is not true that there is God but one can believe there is. If God pops his head out and says ‘hello’, I’ll believe He exists. The idea of God is a receding packet of ignorance.” he said.
“Religion divides us along lines. It’s only in religious settings that people sin for 6 days and ask for forgiveness in a day. As a nation, instead of asking the hard questions, we over-rely on the ‘Fa ma Nyame’ (Give it to God) syndrome,” Assibey added.
When asked about miracles, the GHA Prez said they are simply ‘coincidences’ since people of other religions also claim miracles happen to them.
