Public officials in Burundi have directed all couples to get married before the end of the year.
The new bill, passed by parliament earlier this year and signed into law by the country’s President, requires all couples to either get their union sanctioned by the church/state before the year ends.
Supporters claim it would make Burundi a more moral country, but critics say it infringes on the rights of the citizens.
