Former Black Stars midfielder Yakubu Abubakari has passed away at the age of 36.
Abubakari died at the Tema Government Hospital where he has been battling illness for a while now.
Yakubu was a former player of the Black Stars and played as part of the squad that qualified the team to her first world cup in 2006. He spent most of his career with Ajax Amsterdam and Vitesse Arheim in the Netherlands, winning the Dutch title twice with the former. He won 16 caps with the Black Stars.
It’s not yet clear what led to the death of Yakubu at the young age of 36. May he rest in peace.
