Cristiano Ronaldo has been adjudged the Best Player in the World for the fifth time in his career, tying eternal rival Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo received his award at the ceremony held tonight at Fifa’s House of Football.
Messi placed second once again as PSG’s Neymar Jr. finished 3rd.
The battle between world football’s undisputed two best players has been ongoing since they both burst onto the scene over a decade ago, and with both in their early 30s, it’s difficult to tell how many best player awards either Messi or Ronaldo would retire with.
In the individual award stakes, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane was adjudged the best manager, with Dutch star Lieke Martens winning female player of the year.
The best eleven players of the year were also announced after voting by FifPro, the international players union.
