The Ghana Football Association’s appeal against officiating in last week’s world cup qualifier between Ghana and Uganda has been dismissed by Fifa, who say they would take no action.
South African referee Daniel Bennett denied Ghana two clear goals, as well as a stonewall penalty, in the qualifier to deny the Black Stars victory.
The GFA filed an immediate protest after the game, calling for a replay and for Bennett to be punished. However, Egypt beat Congo by 2-1 in Alexandria the next day to make the result of Ghana-Uganda moot, as the Pharoahs claimed the sole World Cup ticket from the group.
And Fifa has responded in kind, telling Ghana that “no proceedings will be opened around the World Cup qualifier match Uganda vs. Ghana.”
