This is what not using your head and simply acting on emotions look like, and in the end it was the duo who ended up looking like fools and had to delete their post.
The Telegraph recently ran a story, which we reported on, about a Ghanaian bank official who deposited cash for Otumfuo in a UK bank without going through the proper channels and ended up getting himself fired.
The story simply reported the facts, that Otumfuo handed the official a bag full of £350,000 in cash. Depositing such a huge amount of cash in a bank naturally set off money laundering alarm bells, as GhanaCelebrities.Com editor Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri breaks down here.
Anyway, the Telegraph never made any insinuation Otumfuo was laundering money, or that he wasn’t wealthy.
However, UK based pop duo Reggie and Bollie decided to jump to the defence of Otumfuo on social media and attack the UK newspaper.
“What is £350,000 to our Ashanti King Otumfuo Osei Tutu? Come On @telegraph our king owns thousands of acres of lands full of Gold and many other natural resources. Don’t bring his name to disrepute” the duo’s official social media accounts sent out.
Of course, the problem is Telegraph never made any of those assumptions, showing the duo probably did not really grasp the story before deciding to post.
After some hardcore trolling, the duo took down the post unceremoniously.
