The Black Starlets of Ghana put up a masterclass in attacking performance in their final group game to beat hosts India by 4-0 at the ongoing U-17 World Cup.
Captain Eric Ayiah struck either side of half time to give Ghana a commanding 2-0 lead, before Danso and Toku added the icing on the cake deep into the second half.
The impressive margin of victory and a 1-3 loss by the USA to Colombia in the other group game means Ghana even managed to top the group.
The Starlets needed to get their campaign back on track after a painful 1-0 loss to the US in the second group game, but came up against a very motivated India side.
With the partisan home crowd cheering them on, India came out for the first half with immense verve, but tapered off as energy levels dropped and Ghana’s quality shone through.
In the end, it was captain Ayiah who once again led the team, netting twice to give Ghana the impressive victory and a second round berth against a yet to be determined opponent.
