21,000 Teachers Sacked In Nigeria's Kaduna State After Failing Exams Meant For Six Year Old Pupils

How does a full grown teacher fail a test meant for their pupil? It’s astonishing!
Yet that’s exactly what has happened in Nigeria, leading to over 21,000 teachers being sacked for their seeming incompetence.
In Kaduna State, teachers were required to take a test meant for their pupils, and those who scored less than 75% were deemed to have failed.
21,780 teachers, a full two-thirds of the number of teachers who took the test, failed to score above 75%.
They have thus been let go, with the state government hiring 25,000 new teachers to fill the void.
“The hiring of teachers in the past was politicised and we intend to change that by bringing in young and qualified primary school teachers to restore the dignity of education in the state,” State governor Nasir El-Rufai said, according to the BBC, quoting the Daily Trust newspaper.
