Rising star of Gh music, Kuami Eugene, has revealed that his thirst for music was so strong that he run away from school once and got expelled.
Eugene, Winner of the Unsung Artiste of the year at the 2017 VGMA’s, said he regretted it at the time but that time spent away from school learning production and song writing has helped him get to where he is today.
The youngster was speaking on Joy Fm when he revealed that he left school to go to a remote portion of the Eastern Region to stay with a guy who saw his potential and wanted to help him.
“I wasted some time of my life to be able to learn how to produce and write my own music when there is no one to do it for me. For two months I stayed in a faraway place in the Eastern Region in the studio of a music producer who saw potential in me without the knowledge of my mother neither that of the school’s authorities.” he told Doreen Andoh.
According to Eugene, the prolonged absence led to his expulsion from school, which was the time his mother heard of what her son had done.
“My mother got to know about it when I was expelled from school. Today, I have been able to achieve a lot because of that sacrifice I made and my Mum is very happy,” he added.
Eugene, signed to Lynx Entertainment, is one of the best young musicians in the country. Not only is he talented on the mic, he’s also a celebrated songwriter and has penned songs for some of the biggest singers in the country including labelmate Mzvee, Becca and Efya, among others.
