Shatta Wale has a new partner in his crusade against Charterhouse as rapper Guru has issued similar complaints against the event managing company.
According to the ‘Lapaz Toyota’ hitmaker, the Ghana Music Awards organizers have been unfair to him throughout his career and the frustration led him to withdraw himself from contention for the awards earlier this year.
Guru expressed his grievances whilst appearing on Daybreak Hitz.
According to him, he is unable to understand what exactly Charterhouse wants from him that for so long he has suffered to win their awards.
“Anytime I try making a comment about awards it turns out to be something else. I’m not the organiser of this whole awards thing, I don’t know what they are looking for, what they think I lack and what I have to work on because I have always been working on myself and trying to mount my own stage, making sure I get the songs to the people and do what it takes to win,” he said.
Asked if he thinks the company has been unfair to him, Guru replied in the affirmative. “That is why I pulled [out] last year because I felt I had to work on something that maybe they thought I’m lacking.”
When contacted for their side of the story, Head of Communications for Charterhouse, George Quaye, said they would be interested in having a dialogue with Guru to hear his concerns, but ultimately if he doesn’t want to be considered for awards that would be solely his prerogative.
