VGMA 2017 Artist of the Year Joe Mettle has revealed some part of his history when he suffered so much due to not having any money.
The gospel singer appeared on Joy Fm’s Personality Profile to talk about his path to the top, revealing this sad story from his past when he and some pals had to ‘steal’ groundnut paste just to eat with gari.
“The lowest period for me was; at a point, things were a bit difficult for me at home so I left the house. Followed friends, we used to play with a church and I remember very well that one time, we were really broke and had to eat gari with groundnut paste.” Mettle told Lexis Bill.
“It was really terrible, it was hard swallowing it but we didn’t have a choice and that even caused a problem for us because; it was someone’s wife’s groundnut paste. So when the lady came back to prepare the soup, the paste was gone,” he added.
The ‘Bo Noo Ni’ hitmaker revealed that he has done so many things in the past before becoming successful in music, including selling MTN recharge cards and later on, becoming a waakye seller.
