A study released by the CIES Football Observatory have concluded on the most expensive squads in football at the moment, and the club at no.1 might not be who you’re thinking of.
Paris Saint-Germain made a huge splash this summer with their capture of Neymar, whilst Manchester United followed up last summer’s spending spree with another this summer – but it was Manchester City who finished in no.1.
Coach Pep Guardiola spent £215m this summer to bolster an already expensive squad as he hopes to win the English Premier League at the second time of trying.
PSG have the second most expensive squad in football currently, followed by Manchester United at 3rd.
The best club in the world right now, Real Madrid, with 3 champions league trophies in the past 4 years, are only 6th on the table, with a squad value of 497m euros.
