A former school prefect of Achimota School has sparked outrage on Ghanaian social media after he married his gay partner in the United States over the weekend.
Photos on social media show Stephen Kabutey Ofoi Ceasar, known for being an Old Boy of the school, and his white partner tying the knot.
The photo has gotten Ghanaians pissed off (as usual) over a Ghanaian citizen having the audacity to be gay. The insults leveled at him on social media are endless, with some reserved for a lady believed to be his mum also seen in the photos.
Kabutey’s marriage comes in the wake of a call by Amnesty International on Parliament to decriminalize homos*xuality and a petition by Ghanaian gays in Canada to pressurize the Canadian government to put pressure on its Ghanaian counterpart to improve the situation of gays in Ghana.
Check out video of the ceremony below, including a rendition of the Achimota school anthem.
