Black Stars manager Kwesi Appiah believes despite trailing Egypt by five points with four games remaining, the Black Stars would still make the 2018 Fifa World Cup.
The former Stars defender spoke to Fifa.com about the Stars chances in the remaining qualifying games and Appiah was in confident mood.
Ghana currently has 1pt from two games, 5pts less than Egypt with four games to go, but Appiah said he believes the group is so tough that anyone could qualify, especially Ghana.
“We’re sitting on one point, while Egypt have got six. However, we’re going to try to win our upcoming matches and leapfrog them.” he told the site.
“Every team has played two matches, so we’ve got four games left each and 12 points to play for. Anything is still possible, so long as we keep working hard and we perform well. We’ll have to see what happens, but I think anyone in the group can still qualify.” Appiah added.
The Stars return to action early next month when they face Congo in a double header of games. Two wins in those could close the gap to group leaders Egypt, who also play Uganda twice in the same period.
