Menzgold’s week of bad press continues as it turns out the company was falsely representing themselves on their website to boost their ‘street cred’.
The embattled gold buying company claimed on their website that they were affiliated to a Swiss company – Swiss Gold Global – which obviously would hand their operations a veneer of legitimacy which would otherwise not be present.
According to a Joy News report, the Swiss company has denied this supposed affiliation, writing in an email that their knowledge of Menzgold/Menzbanc is limited to a request by the company for an affiliation which went nowhere.
“Please note that Swiss Gold Global and its associated companies have no association with Menzbanc regarding any of their investments,” an email from the Swizz outfit to Joy News’ Manasseh Azure read.
The email added that the company could not “recommend or negate” whether people should get involved with Menzgold’s investments.
In their bio on their official website, Menzgold claimed that they held an affiliation with Swiss Gold Global.
“By our affiliation to Swissgold global in Switzerland; sharing in the objectives of turning the fortunes of groups and individuals around by ensuring absolute financial freedom for people, has inspired or drive us to attain the unprecedented height and records we’ve set in Africa,” the website read.
However, following the Joy News report and being confronted with the denial from Switzerland, the company has taken down the claims of affiliation.
“Menzgold was an affiliate of Swiss Gold Global but opted out because there was the need to build to a formidable brand that is not dependent on any other brand.” a disclaimer now up on the site reads.
This news comes at a time when the company got caught in the Bank of Ghana’s cross-hairs for allegedly taking deposits without a license. Following the Bank of Ghana’s warning for the public not to deposit any money with the company, Menzgold came out to say they were only a gold trading company, licensed by the minerals Commission and that they did not take deposits.
