Incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta Declared Winner Following Protracted Kenyan Elections

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has been declared winner of the Kenyan Presidential elections after a few days of tension and mixed announcements.
Since Tuesday’s election, both the opposition and government had expressed immense confidence of winning the polls, and the protracted certification of results have raised tensions in the country and in some areas, degenerated into violence.
The Electoral Commission finally declared Friday, giving Uhuru Kenyatta 54.3% of the votes cast. Opposition leader Raila Odinga received 44.7% of the vote.
“I reach out to you… We are all citizens of the same republic”. said Kenyatta to frustrated opposition supporters after the results were announced.
The opposition has so far refused to accept the results, calling the announcement of results a ‘charade’.
