The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is set to visit the Central Regional town of Denkyira-Obuasi today – Monday August 7.
The visit would be part of a five day working tour by the President to the Central and Western Regions.
Denkyira-Obuasi came into national consciousness in May after a soldier was lynched to death by residents.
Captain (posthumously promoted to Major) Maxwell Mahama was on his morning jog when a mob of residents jumped on him and beat and burned him to death.
The major was given a state burial after his tragic death, and the perpetrators are currently on trial for the murder.
But the town has gone into infamy since the incident and the President would be stepping foot there for the first time since the incident today.
After Boase, the President would visit other towns in the region as part of his tour.
