One Step Closer – Barcelona Confirms Receipt Of Payment Of €222m By Neymar's Lawyers To Trigger His Release Clause

It threatened to become a soap opera but Neymar Jr’s move to PSG is almost done.
Barcelona has confirmed that they have received the payment of €222m from the lawyers of Neymar, triggering the Brazilian’s release clause.
PSG had initially tried to pay the money to the Spanish League Association (La Liga), as per league rules. However, the payment was rejected, threatening to derail the deal.
That led to the French League Association issuing a statement denouncing the actions of their Spanish league counterparts.
However, lawyers of Neymar personally flew into Spain to resolve the impasse by making the payment directly to Barcelona. The figure triggers the release clause in Neymar’s contract and makes him free to sign for whichever club he so chooses, in this case, Paris Saint-Germain.
As we reported earlier, the deal, a world record transfer, would make Neymar the highest paid player in the world, earning an estimated £28m every year.
