This story has been rumbling for weeks now but has now inched closer to completion as Barcelona grants the Brazilian forward permission to skip training.
Multiple reports this morning confirm that Neymar left Barca’s training grounds earlier today, with the club given him the permission to skip training until his move to Paris is completed.
He also told teammates he was leaving the club.
The French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are close to signing Neymar from Barcelona for a world record fee of €222m.
PSG has chased the Brazilian all summer, but Barcelona are adamant he would only leave if they pay the release clause in his contract – which is set at €222m.
PSG has signalled their willingness to pay the fee and it looks like the saga is close to an end with today’s development.
If the move is completed, Neymar would become the most expensive player in world football, as his €222m easily eclipses the €105m Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba in 2016.
